Atlanta Fire Department High-Angle Rescue Training
Atlanta firefighters practice high-angle rescue training near Fulton County Stadium on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Crews from Squad 4, Engine 10, and Truck 10 all participated in a high-angle drill that involved simulating a stokes basket rescue of patients who have found themselves down a ravine, off a bridge or in a suspended vehicle. A lone firefighter is lowered with the basket from an aerial ladder where the patient is secured and returned back up to a secure location. Firefighters usually train on various scenarios during every shift.
